Wayne Rooney Reveals His Dream Premier League Five-a-Side Team
Former Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney disclosed his ideal five-a-side squad comprised of current Premier League stars, notably excluding any present Red Devils players.
Moreover, the initial selection from Rooney's lips was surprisingly Manchester City's Phil Foden. During his BBC podcast The Wayne Rooney Show, the ex-England captain highlighted Foden as his opening choice.
"Phil Foden, absolutely," Rooney declared immediately and confidently with his opening selection. "Five-a-side, Phil Foden, confined spaces, exceptional."
Following a short moment, Rooney proceeded to select his remaining four teammates.
"Likely Cole Palmer included as well," Rooney added. "[Bukayo] Saka, I won't include a goalkeeper. I'll add [Moisés] Caicedo there, he'd serve as the defensive anchor but possesses attacking capabilities too."
If assembling a squad featuring Man City, Arsenal and Chelsea talents wasn't shocking enough, Rooney's ultimate selection originated from Man Utd's greatest adversaries, Liverpool.
"Mo Salah. So yes, those would be my five selections," Rooney concluded.
Wayne Rooney Discloses Greatest Achievement, Regret of Playing Career

The United icon discussed numerous topics during a thirty-minute Q&A segment.
Among his revelations was considering the FA Cup victory he secured as Man Utd skipper in 2016—his sole FA Cup success—as the pinnacle achievement of his almost two-decade career.
Conversely, he also disclosed his greatest disappointment. He identified the 2006 FIFA World Cup as a tournament he admitted he should have avoided.
"[My greatest regret] Attending the World Cup in 2006," Rooney stated. "I lacked fitness, I shouldn't have participated. And it concluded with receiving a red card. So yes, looking back I likely wouldn't have attended."
Rooney managed zero goal contributions across four World Cup matches in 2006. He received a dismissal in the quarterfinal clash with Portugal before England's penalty shootout defeat.
Nevertheless, despite his World Cup disappointments, there's no questioning that the Everton youth product ranks among the finest talents English football has ever witnessed.
