Carrick was brought in on a temporary basis through the season's end after Ruben Amorim's exit, with United choosing to take additional time in their search for a permanent successor—primary candidate Oliver Glasner has subsequently announced his summer departure from Crystal Palace.
Thus far, Carrick has maintained a composed presence, dismissing worries raised by several former United legends including Roy Keane and Gary Neville.

Rooney added: "It's likely the logical selection given that there aren't any elite managers currently available. I believe it's the correct decision for this particular moment.
"It's certainly a challenging assignment. Manchester United's current position isn't ideal, and Michael needs to step in and bring stability."

"I believe there's something special about this club," Carrick shared with reporters ahead of Saturday's Manchester derby. "I can sense it. I immediately feel comfortable returning to this environment.
"I've been connected to this place for an extended period and then stepped away briefly, but I still believe there's something magical here. It's impossible not to experience that feeling.
"Yes, results and external perceptions might appear somewhat different, but internally, things don't feel drastically changed, I must admit.
"Look, part of my duties and obligations involves defining our collective identity moving forward.
"What transpires during matches, the strategic elements and displays are important, but equally significant is establishing the right culture—our mindset, conduct, behavior, and understanding of what representing this club means... that's also within my remit to foster appropriately."
