Wrexham will hand Davis Keillor-Dunn a chance to prove his worth during preseason as transfer interest in the midfielder continues to grow.
The 28-year-old only returned to the Red Dragons in the January transfer window but already appears to face an uncertain future at the North Wales club.
Wrexham spent $2.7 million to bring the attacking midfielder in from League One outfit Barnsley, where he had netted 13 goals in 24 league outings in the first half of the campaign. Despite that impressive form, he managed just 117 minutes across six substitute league appearances after joining the Racecourse Ground, equalling the number of outings he made during his previous brief stint with the club in January 2020.
Keillor-Dunn currently finds himself behind Josh Windass and Nathan Broadhead in the squad hierarchy. Even when both players were given a rest during the 2–0 loss to Birmingham City in April, Ollie Rathbone and Lewis O'Brien were preferred over him. When Phil Parkinson turned to his substitutes in that game, he opted to bring on Player of the Season Windass and club-record signing Broadhead before calling on the January arrival.
Sports Illustrated understands that Parkinson is keen to retain Keillor-Dunn and intends to give him game time during Wrexham's preseason friendlies this summer. Settling into a new club mid-campaign can be difficult, and there is confidence that the attacking midfielder will benefit from a complete preseason schedule and find his footing more effectively ahead of the new campaign.
A summer exit has not been completely ruled out, however, with early interest surfacing from both Championship and League One clubs. Any decision regarding his future is expected to hinge on his preseason showings and whether he is seen as a regular contributor to Wrexham's plans for the season ahead.
Phil Parkinson Explains January Business

Wrexham spent a further $6 million to secure the signings of Keillor-Dunn, Zak Vyner and Bailey Cadamarteri during the January transfer window.
Rather than pursuing immediate first-team reinforcements, the Red Dragons prioritised bolstering squad depth while enabling player exits and supporting injured players back to fitness. Conor Coady, Andy Cannon, Elliot Lee and Ryan Hardie all departed on loan, while James McClean completed a permanent transfer to his hometown club, Derry City.

Wrexham were also restricted by the 25-man squad limit, with Parkinson looking to keep a compact group while maintaining healthy competition for starting positions. The manager noted that the January additions helped create the room needed for several departures that were viewed as positive for the squad's long-term progress.
"When we bring players in, it was never to replace anybody," he told Sports Illustrated. "It was to allow others to move on. The lads in the team have done well, and competition has helped them step up."
