Wolves Axe Manager Vitor Pereira Following Disastrous Season Opening—Reports

Wolverhampton Wanderers have dismissed head coach Vítor Pereira following a disastrous beginning to the season that has seen them anchored at the foot of the Premier League table, according to numerous media outlets.

Pereira was appointed by Wolves in December 2024 and received widespread praise for steering the club clear of relegation danger, securing survival with a substantial 17-point cushion above the drop zone.

However, the current campaign has proven catastrophic for Pereira, as his Wolves squad has been unable to secure victory in any of their opening 10 Premier League fixtures and currently occupies last place with merely two points accumulated.

Following such a woeful beginning to the 2024–25 season, Wolves have achieved the dubious distinction of becoming the first Premier League club to go winless through their initial 10 matches in consecutive seasons.

In recent times, Pereira found himself at odds with the fanbase regarding the team's trajectory, while speculation surrounding forward Jørgen Strand Larsen's potential departure became an additional source of disruption following Newcastle United's summer pursuit.

Following Saturday's loss to Fulham, Pereira declared he would not resign from his role and pledged to reverse the club's fortunes, but Wolves hierarchy chose not to afford him that opportunity.

"I'm a warrior," he stated. "I never surrender. That's not who I am. I will give everything in our next training session to mentally restore the squad, to tactically rebuild the structure we require for our upcoming match.

"We must analyze what transpired today because that wasn't our true team. Prior to this match, examining the Burnley fixture and the Sunderland encounter, we performed at an acceptable standard for half the duration, while struggling and falling below our capabilities for the remaining period. We cannot deliver at our level for one half and perform differently in the other. Consistency is essential.

"Today, mentally, I believed we would go there—making personnel changes—and demonstrate our ability to maintain consistency throughout an entire match, but that wasn't achieved.

"Whether I feel satisfied or proud, I must be honest about today's performance. I cannot claim pride or happiness, and we must elevate our standard and provide the response in our next fixture."
