World Cup 2026 Ticket Prices Skyrocket as Second Lottery Round Approaches
Admission costs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have surged dramatically before the second sales phase launches, driven by FIFA's "dynamic pricing" approach.
There has already been substantial backlash regarding the astronomical amounts needed to buy tickets for next summer's competition across the United States, Canada and Mexico, with costs spanning from hundreds to thousands of dollars.
FIFA's flexible pricing system means costs will shift throughout the competition depending on demand, with the launch of the second ticket sales phase on Wednesday triggering a significant price jump, according to The Athletic.
Fans who succeeded in the second ticket draw have encountered elevated prices while attempting to obtain tickets, with elimination rounds especially impacted by the price surge.
Preliminary round games, except those featuring the host countries and matches held in Canada and Mexico, have mostly maintained their original pricing for now, though.

The highest-priced ticket for the championship match now costs approximately $7,875, while the lowest-priced option sits at slightly above $2,000. Nearly every elimination match experienced price increases, with the smallest rise for Category 1 tickets at roughly 6% and the largest at about 39%—the latter applying to the round of 16 fixture in Vancouver.
Initial round matches featuring the USMNT, Canada and Mexico have all seen increases as well, particularly for Category 1 tickets—there are four distinct pricing tiers for games, with Category 1 being the most costly and Category 4 the least.
Costs for the USMNT's opening match remained unchanged—spanning from $560–$2,735—but their second and third group matches increased approximately 13% for Category 1 tickets along with rises for Category 2 and 3 options, too.
Canada's opening game will now cost supporters roughly $1,930 for a Category 1 ticket and Mexico's initial match will run $2,140 for the premium seat.
