Wrexham have just a few hours remaining to finalize their transfer activity, with at least two incoming signings and several potential outgoings still in motion ahead of the 11 p.m. BST (6 p.m. ET, 3 p.m. PT) deadline on Tuesday, Sept. 1.
The Red Dragons are poised to confirm Burnley defender Joe Worrall as their first Deadline Day signing after agreeing on a £2 million ($2.7 million) fee for the seasoned center back. Phil Parkinson has been keen to bring in a dominant central defender this summer, and Worrall ticks all the boxes with extensive Championship experience.
Sports Illustrated also understands that Wrexham have struck a preliminary agreement to acquire Sheffield United playmaker Callum O'Hare in a deal valued at £7 million ($9.5 million). The club have been on the hunt for an attacking midfielder for several weeks and have once again turned to a player with an established track record in the English second tier.
The club have also left the door open for further signings during what has turned into a hectic conclusion to the transfer window. Wrexham have openly expressed interest in numerous players over recent weeks and pursued multiple deals at once, hoping that at least a handful will come to fruition.
Wrexham Working on Transfer Exits
Wrexham are simultaneously working on a number of departures as they look to trim an oversized squad ahead of the Championship campaign. The Red Dragons are limited to a 25-man roster for the competition, meaning certain players will need to move on to make room for the planned new arrivals.
Conor Coady has had his contract cancelled and is now available on a free transfer, while negotiations continue to reach a compensation agreement with club legend Elliot Lee. The three-time promotion hero is no longer part of Parkinson's plans and has been encouraged to seek a new club where he can get regular playing time.
Lee's situation does not need to be resolved by Tuesday, however, as he would still be eligible to join a new club after the deadline as a free agent.
The signing of Worrall will pave the way for the permanent exit of Dan Scarr, who has agreed to move to League Two outfit Salford City. The 31-year-old is eager for consistent game time and is willing to drop two divisions to join the ambitious club.
Wrexham are also receptive to bids for Davis Keillor-Dunn, who has drawn attention from Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City, while George Dobson could also be allowed to depart if a suitable offer materializes.
Sheffield Wednesday have made enquiries about a potential loan move for former forward Bailey Cadamarteri, though he is expected to stay at the Racecourse Ground as a backup option up front.
There is also considerable interest in academy products Aaron James and Harry Ashfield, though Parkinson is reluctant to sanction the departure of either player. Neither would need to be included in the 25-man roster, meaning they could offer useful additional cover for the first team without occupying a senior squad place.
