Emmy-winning docuseries Welcome to Wrexham has been greenlit for three additional seasons, with cameras set to follow the Red Dragons all the way through 2029.
The sweeping renewal arrives just a month before the show's fifth season—an intimate look at Wrexham's long-awaited return to the EFL Championship after a 43-year absence—premieres in May. The series is now confirmed to run for a minimum of eight seasons.
Welcome to Wrexham chronicles the oldest club in Wales, co-owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. The series offers supporters around the world an exclusive glimpse into not only Wrexham the football club, but also Wrexham the community, and the passionate people who make both so unique.
Since 2021, cameras have captured every chapter of the club's remarkable ascent from the National League to the Championship, offering a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to achieve a historic run of three back-to-back promotions.

Reynolds and McElhenney expressed their appreciation for Welcome to Wrexham's renewal, acknowledging the many contributors who have helped make the show such a compelling success.
"A three-season order for a TV series is virtually unprecedented and is only made possible by the extraordinary work of our Emmy-winning documentary team and the incredible rise of Wrexham AFC and everyone working tirelessly to make sports history," Mac and Reynolds said.
"We are endlessly grateful to our equally bold and dedicated partners at FX for standing by us at every turn. We're thrilled that we get to continue telling the Wrexham story for years ahead."
The two co-owners have made no secret of their dream to one day see Wrexham competing in the Premier League, and three more seasons of the series give the club three further chances to capture what would be a fairytale conclusion for the Welsh side—assuming they don't pull it off this very season.
Wrexham's Playoff Push Reaching the Ultimate Climax

Despite widespread skepticism that Wrexham could compete with the Championship's elite, the Red Dragons firmly planted themselves in the playoff conversation. The club held onto sixth place—the final playoff berth—for a significant stretch of 2026.
However, a difficult recent run of results has thrown their season into doubt. Parkinson's side have dropped points in four of their last six league outings, slipping to seventh in the table.
Should sixth-place Southampton win their game in hand, Wrexham will find themselves five points adrift of the playoff spots with only five fixtures remaining. Adding to the pressure, the Welsh club closes out their campaign against league-leaders Coventry City and third-place Middlesbrough.
Even if the Red Dragons fall short of the playoffs, they have already secured Championship football for next season, when a fresh push toward the Premier League can begin once more—all with the cameras rolling.
