Wrexham Promotion Star Unleashes Fury at Club Following Shocking Forced Departure
Wrexham supporter favorite Paul Mullin criticized the club for loaning him out this season following "all" he's contributed, stating he will "never accept" how the situation was managed.
Mullin, who was instrumental in the Red Dragons' initial two promotions under Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac's ownership, had his 2024–25 season disrupted by injury before his contributions were eventually considered surplus last summer; the club brought in 13 new players, including his successor Kieffer Moore, prior to their first Championship season in 43 years.
Entirely sidelined, Mullin was loaned to Wigan Athletic at the season's beginning, but his stint with the League One club was terminated early this January. The forward made a short return to Wrexham before being transferred to Bradford City, a difficult situation to endure while Phil Parkinson's revamped team pursues a historic fourth straight promotion.
"It's been quite difficult for me over the past 18 months. It came somewhat unexpectedly, considering everything I've contributed and then having surgery," Mullin explained. "Things basically concluded from that point, which was hard to process.
"I'll never come to terms with what transpired, because it's something I find very difficult, but that's the nature of football and you have to move forward."

Mullin isn't the sole promotion champion to witness his tenure in red conclude suddenly. Former skipper James McClean, Steven Fletcher and Elliot Lee represent just three additional players who have also departed North Wales in recent times.
The recognizable personalities weren't just cherished by supporters filling the STōK Cae Ras, but they also attracted worldwide attention through the Emmy-winning documentary series, Welcome to Wrexham. The Red Dragons had to make difficult choices last summer and this winter, however, in their quest to compete in the Premier League next season.
A roster primarily consisting of National League, League Two and League One talent was never going to possess sufficient strength to compete against Championship-level opposition. Wrexham needed to invest significantly to acquire players with second-tier experience—and even some with Premier League backgrounds—to genuinely compete with clubs like Coventry City, Middlesborough and Ipswich Town.
This influx of new talent forced several cherished figures to leave, but these departures marked the beginning of a new chapter in North Wales, one that Parkinson hopes will elevate his squad to England's premier division.

Mullin Claims He Has 'Nothing to Demonstrate' at Bradford

Mullin, who netted 110 goals across 172 matches for Wrexham, feels his track record demonstrates his worth as he begins anew at Bradford, currently positioned sixth in League One.
"I now have a chance at a significant club to achieve success here and create another chapter in my professional journey," Mullin stated.
"It's primarily about me personally, I simply want to succeed. I want to accomplish it repeatedly. So I just want to feature in matches and achieve success. I don't believe I have anything to demonstrate."
The 31-year-old has already featured twice for his new team, though he hasn't registered any shots across 93 minutes. Some initial struggles are anticipated, however, given that Mullin didn't receive regular playing time at Wigan and was then inactive for more than a month at the start of the new year.
