Wrexham Secures Game-Changing Investment in Bold Premier League Push

In pursuit of Wrexham's ambitious vision to eventually compete in the Premier League, the club has announced Apollo Sports Capital (ASC) as new minority investors.

This investment from ASC, who recently acquired a majority stake in Spanish La Liga team Atlético Madrid, provides the Red Dragons with enhanced financial resources as they continue renovating STōK Cae Ras and pursue what would be an unprecedented fourth straight promotion.

BBC sources indicate the ownership percentage remains under 10%, ensuring Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney retain majority control of Wales' oldest football club. The Hollywood duo acquired Wrexham in 2020 and have transformed the previously overlooked team from National League status to the Championship.

"Our objective from the beginning has been establishing a sustainable foundation for Wrexham Association Football Club. We wanted to achieve this with passion and a touch of humor," Reynolds and McElhenney expressed in their combined statement.

"Our aspiration has consistently been elevating this club to Premier League level while honoring the community. Such expansion requires exceptional partners who embrace our vision and determination, which Apollo certainly does. We've maintained a relationship with Al Tylis, Apollo Sports Capital's CEO, for several years and are delighted to welcome ASC into the Wrexham organization as we advance together."

Tylis, Reynolds and McElhenney also hold minority investments in Mexican Liga MX team Necaxa and Colombian club La Equidad. This celebrity investor consortium additionally features Eva Longoria, two-time World Series champion Justin Verlander and his spouse, Kate Upton.

During their inaugural Championship season in over four decades, Wrexham occupies 12th position after 19 matches. Phil Parkinson's squad remains just three points from playoff contention, bolstered by their impressive nine-match undefeated run in England's second division.

Reaching the Premier League appeared unthinkable for the Red Dragons merely four years ago, yet they now stand closer to that dream than ever, supported by fresh financial investment.

"Wrexham is experiencing a remarkable transformation, and we're excited to participate in this journey while supporting the club, Wrexham community, and Rob and Ryan," stated Apollo Partner and ASC Co-Portfolio Manager Lee Solomon.

"This represents a comprehensive investment where Apollo Sports Capital can offer sustained, patient funding to assist Wrexham in achieving its objectives and contributing to the continued enhancement of facilities and the local economy."
