Wrexham are edging closer to completing a transfer for Crystal Palace's adaptable fullback Danny Imray.
The 23-year-old is poised to become the Red Dragons' first summer acquisition as Phil Parkinson seeks to bolster a squad that finished seventh in the Championship last season, narrowly falling short of a playoff berth.
Wrexham have made signing at least one right wingback a top priority this summer, with Imray seen as a player who brings tremendous potential while also being ready to contribute immediately to the first-team setup.
While Imray has yet to feature competitively for Premier League club Crystal Palace, he caught the eye during loan stints at Blackpool and West Bromwich Albion last season. The transfer fee is understood to be in the region of £5 million ($6.65 million).
Who Is Danny Imray?
Imray started out with local non-league clubs Ilford and Billericay Town before moving to Chelmsford City to further his development. After 18 months at Chelmsford, he was spotted by Premier League outfit Crystal Palace and brought into their academy setup.
One year into his time at Crystal Palace, Imray headed back to Chelmsford on loan to continue developing his game. He then spent two more seasons progressing through Palace's youth ranks before joining Bromley on loan two years ago, gaining his first taste of English Football League action.
The right-sided defender made a strong impression throughout a full League Two campaign and earned a loan switch to League One club Blackpool the following summer. Though initially expected to remain at Bloomfield Road for the whole season, his outstanding form prompted Crystal Palace to recall him in January before sending him to Championship outfit West Bromwich Albion for the rest of the campaign.
Despite being born in England, Imray qualifies to play for the Trinidad and Tobago national team. Wrexham have previously had six Trinidad and Tobago internationals on their roster, among them club icon Denis Lawrence, who became the first Wrexham player to appear at a FIFA World Cup when he represented his nation in 2006.

What Would Signing Imray Mean for Wrexham?
Imray is anticipated to slot straight into Wrexham's starting eleven once his move from Crystal Palace is finalised in the coming days. The Red Dragons made recruiting a new right wingback a summer priority after opting not to pursue a renewed interest in Manchester City loanee Issa Kaboré.
Wrexham have been rotating Aaron James, Ryan Barnett and Ryan Longman across the right wingback position throughout preseason, with Imray's arrival expected to trigger a pair of departures. James has been lined up for a loan exit, while Barnett is anticipated to depart in some form, leaving Imray as the first-choice starter with Longman likely serving as backup.
Imray is well known for his explosive pace and attacking instincts, and his addition is set to hand Wrexham another potent threat in the Championship next season. There is also confidence that he can not only improve the starting lineup right away but grow into a player capable of competing at Premier League level should Wrexham earn promotion.
