Arthur Okonkwo is set to depart Wrexham on a permanent basis during the closing fortnight of the summer transfer window.
The 24-year-old is in the final year of his deal at the Racecourse Ground and has slipped further down the goalkeeping hierarchy following the signing of former Sunderland shot-stopper Anthony Patterson for an initial club-record fee.
Sports Illustrated understands Okonkwo has drawn interest from a number of Championship sides, with Charlton Athletic and Bolton Wanderers among the clubs keeping tabs on his availability.
Okonkwo is currently considered Wrexham's third-choice goalkeeper behind Patterson and Danny Ward. Having made his senior international debut for Nigeria earlier this year, the Red Dragons believe it is more prudent to sell him while he still holds transfer value rather than risk losing him on a free next summer.
Promotions the Highlight of Okonkwo's Wrexham Career
Okonkwo remains a highly regarded figure within the Wrexham dressing room after playing an integral part in back-to-back promotions from League Two through to the Championship.
He initially joined the North Wales club on loan from Arsenal in 2023, stepping in after Ben Foster called time on his career just four games into the season following Wrexham's promotion to League Two.
Okonkwo earned a place in the League Two Team of the Season as Wrexham finished runners-up and clinched a second straight promotion, this time to League One. The Welsh club subsequently won the battle to sign him on a permanent basis when his Arsenal contract came to an end, securing him on a three-year agreement.
He built on that with another strong campaign, contributing to Wrexham's second-place finish in League One and their subsequent promotion to the Championship.

Okonkwo delivered another solid season last year, despite initially being tipped to serve as Ward's understudy. The Wales international had rejoined Wrexham from Leicester City the previous summer and started the opening four fixtures before sustaining a serious elbow injury in late August.

That gave Okonkwo the chance to reclaim the number one spot, a position he held until the final four games of the campaign. While he impressed with his shot-stopping ability, questions persisted over his command of the penalty area, and he ultimately lost manager Parkinson's confidence at the most critical point of the season.
Wrexham have since concluded that they require an immediate improvement between the posts and cannot afford to rely once more on Okonkwo's undoubted potential, with promotion to the Premier League their primary objective.
For Okonkwo, a permanent transfer would offer the chance to play consistent first-team football at a pivotal point in his development. Having already demonstrated his quality at Championship level and gained international recognition, the goalkeeper should attract plenty of suitors before the window shuts.
