Wrexham Storm Into Championship Playoff Contention After Historic Victory Against Bristol City
Following a sluggish beginning to the campaign, Wrexham have suddenly positioned themselves within just two points of the playoff spots after securing a 2–0 victory over Bristol City on Wednesday evening.
Nathan Broadhead opened the scoring for the Red Dragons in the 16th minute with a spectacular right-footed effort from beyond the penalty area. This strike marked the Welsh forward's first goal in his previous six outings for Wrexham.
Phil Parkinson's squad confirmed their initial triumph since returning from the November international break in impressive fashion when George Thomason netted directly from a corner kick. The Olimpico strike in the 74th minute guaranteed the home side claimed maximum points at the STōK Cae Ras.
The victory elevates Wrexham to 10th position in the Championship table, accumulating 25 points from 17 fixtures. Wales' oldest football club sits merely two points behind Preston North End in sixth place, meaning they are only two points away from securing a playoff berth.

Wrexham have now assembled four consecutive home league triumphs after requiring over two months to claim a victory at the STōK Cae Ras upon their Championship return. The Red Dragons, however, have discovered their rhythm in front of their devoted fanbase, defeating Oxford United, Coventry, Charlton and most recently Bristol City.
Even during matches they haven't won, Wrexham have managed to earn draws on the road, depending on their organized defensive structure to split points with Middlesbrough, Portsmouth and Ipswich Town in their most recent three away encounters in England's second division.
Indeed, Parkinson's team last experienced a league loss on Oct. 18 versus Stoke City, almost seven weeks prior.
Advancement to the Premier League previously appeared like a distant dream for Wrexham, particularly after they began the season without a victory in their opening three contests. However, the Red Dragons are gradually ascending the table and are now within reach of breaking into the playoff positions before the festive period.
