Wrexham have finally made their first move in the summer transfer window. The club announced the arrival of wing-back Danny Imray from Crystal Palace.
The 23-year-old penned a four-year deal with the Red Dragons, becoming the club's first summer recruit. The transfer fee was undisclosed, though ESPN reports the figure is around £5 million ($6.7 million).
Supporters of the Welsh club had grown increasingly restless as the weeks passed without any new additions to Phil Parkinson's squad. Wrexham's subdued activity stood in sharp contrast to their busy transfer window the previous summer, when they brought in 13 players to North Wales.
Much like several of those signings that helped the club secure seventh place in their return to the EFL Championship, Imray arrives with Championship-level experience. He wrapped up the 2025–26 campaign on loan at West Bromwich Albion, contributing a goal and two assists across 17 outings.
Imray actually faced Wrexham in their 2–2 draw against West Brom back in April, a fixture that fell during West Brom's 10-match unbeaten streak to avoid the drop. Now, the right wing-back will be donning red the next time he steps out in the Championship.
Imray Echoes Wrexham's Premier League Aspirations
Bringing in Imray, an attack-minded and pacey player with considerable upside, gives Parkinson's side a timely boost at right wing-back, with both Aaron James and Ryan Barnett expected to depart the club in some form.
The 23-year-old, who arrived at Crystal Palace as a teenager, is eager to play a significant part in Wrexham's bid for promotion to the Premier League. "First and foremost, I think where this club is heading, it's definitely on an upward trajectory," he said in an official statement.
"It's just everything about the club really—everything behind the scenes. I've watched Welcome to Wrexham and it's not just a football club that wants to succeed on the pitch, but one that wants to thrive off it too.

"The community means a great deal to the club and I think that's such a positive way to operate, because without the fans, clubs are nothing. There were plenty of things that drew me here, but the club want to reach the Premier League and after speaking to the manager it's just such a thrilling project to be involved in."

Six years ago, when Wrexham were languishing in the National League, the prospect of competing in the Premier League seemed far-fetched. But the Red Dragons have shown they can hold their own at the higher level, finishing just two points outside the Championship playoff spots. They also came close to knocking out Chelsea in the FA Cup last season, and have already defeated Manchester United and Leeds United this summer.
Imray has linked up with the squad in New York ahead of Wrexham's preseason friendly against Liverpool, before Parkinson's side face Sunderland in Pennsylvania. The team will then return home to prepare for their Carabao Cup first-round tie against Middlesbrough.
