Wrexham forward Ryan Hardie has completed a season-long loan move to Bolton Wanderers.
The 29-year-old was Wrexham's first acquisition after their promotion to the Championship a year ago, arriving in a $945,000 transfer from Plymouth Argyle. Despite featuring prominently in preseason, the forward was effectively pushed out of the picture by the close of the transfer window following the signings of Kieffer Moore, Nathan Broadhead, and Josh Windass.
Hardie managed just two Championship starts for the Red Dragons, netting his only goal across 10 appearances during the Carabao Cup win against Preston North End last season.
Bolton were among a number of clubs pursuing a loan agreement for Hardie in January, but he chose to move to League One side Huddersfield Town instead. The former Scotland youth international netted twice in six outings for Huddersfield before an injury ended his stint early in March.
Hardie nonetheless made a positive impression during his short time in League One, and has now linked up with Bolton following their promotion to the Championship. He will be reunited with ex-Wrexham forward Sam Dalby at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.
Commenting after the loan was confirmed on Tuesday, Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson said: "We wish Ryan all the best at Bolton. His loan last season was disrupted, and it's vital he gets back to regular first-team football this campaign."
A club statement read: "Everyone at Wrexham AFC would like to wish Ryan well for the season ahead."
Steven Schumacher's squad secured promotion via the League One playoffs last season, making their return to the Championship for the first time since 2019.
Hardie will be cup-tied against Wrexham in the upcoming season, with the Red Dragons set to travel to Bolton on Friday, Dec. 11. The return fixture will see Wrexham welcome the newly promoted club at the Racecourse Ground on Friday, Jan. 1, 2027.

Wrexham are pursuing several new additions in the final three weeks of the summer transfer window, with Hardie's departure having been anticipated for some time. The former Plymouth Argyle striker was left off the squad for the recent preseason tour of the United States, alongside defenders Conor Coady and Seb Revan.
The Red Dragons are nearing a club-record deal for Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, a move expected to trigger the departure of another goalkeeper before the transfer deadline. Arthur Okonkwo appears the most likely candidate to leave, given his age of just 24 and his higher market value compared to Danny Ward and Callum Burton.
Parkinson is also keen to bring in a centre-back this summer, while the hunt for an additional attacker remains ongoing. Wrexham have registered interest in Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt, who was part of the Hull City squad that earned promotion to the Premier League last season.
