Wrexham have announced the signing of Steve Nickson as their new sporting director—a significant move in the club's pursuit of a place in England's top division.
The 52-year-old has made his way to North Wales following the conclusion of his notice period as head of recruitment at Newcastle United. Nickson will answer to Wrexham CEO Michael Williamson and the club's board, while collaborating closely with manager Phil Parkinson, his coaching staff, and the broader football leadership team.
Sports Illustrated reported back in July that a deal had been struck for Nickson to take up the position once the summer transfer window had shut. His appointment was formally announced on Monday as the club presses ahead with its goal of earning promotion to the Premier League.
