Wrexham's Championship Journey Revealed: Where They Stand After 43 Thrilling Games

Wrexham have narrowed the gap on Hull City to just two points in the intense battle for the final EFL Championship playoff spot.

Phil Parkinson's men claimed a vital 2–0 win against Stoke City on Saturday, bouncing back from back-to-back losses with a crucial three points. The Red Dragons are focused on the race for sixth place, and they received a timely boost as Hull City dropped points in a 1–1 stalemate with Birmingham City on the same afternoon.

That result leaves Wrexham seventh in the standings on 67 points, just two adrift of Hull City. Derby County are also in contention and sit one point behind Wrexham with only three games remaining in the EFL Championship regular season.

Regardless of what unfolds, Parkinson's squad have already secured the highest league finish in the club's 162-year history.

Wrexham sit seventh in the EFL Championship table, accumulating 67 points from 43 outings this campaign. With nine points still available across the final three fixtures, sixth place remains the primary objective for the Red Dragons as they push for a playoff berth.

Coventry City confirmed their promotion to the Premier League with a draw against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend's outset, while Millwall climbed to second following a victory over Queens Park Rangers. Ipswich Town are level on points with Southampton, though they hold two games in hand over the in-form outfit. Middlesbrough occupy fifth ahead of a pivotal encounter with Ipswich Town on Sunday.

Hull City clung onto sixth despite being held by Birmingham City, with Wrexham two points back and Derby County a further point behind. All three clubs are locked in a battle for sixth with just a fortnight of the EFL Championship season remaining.

What Wrexham Need from Remaining Championship Fixtures

Wrexham appear to face the toughest remaining schedule among the three sides competing for sixth place this term.

Phil Parkinson's outfit return to action midweek when they travel to relegation-threatened Oxford United, before facing Premier League-bound Coventry City in their last away fixture of the season. Wrexham then conclude their Championship campaign at home against playoff hopefuls Middlesbrough.

Hull City remain the frontrunners for sixth and will be confident of taking all three points when they visit relegation-threatened Leicester City next Tuesday. Their penultimate away fixture comes against Charlton Athletic before they round off the season hosting in-form Norwich City on the final day.

Derby County are the third side in the playoff picture and appear to have the most favourable run-in. The Rams face Norwich away in midweek, followed by another road trip to mid-table Queens Park Rangers, before wrapping up their season at home against Sheffield United.

Hull City therefore need eight points from their remaining three games to guarantee themselves a playoff place.
