Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso has declared the squad is "extremely cohesive" internally, addressing growing rumors regarding his connections with several star players at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Despite Los Blancos maintaining a commanding position in the La Liga championship chase, multiple media outlets have suggested internal discord within the organization. Reports indicating that various prominent figures have developed negative feelings toward Alonso have circulated widely, with winger Vinicius Junior allegedly citing his troubled rapport with the new coach as justification for his hesitation to extend his contract.
Certain publications have even proposed that Alonso might face dismissal from the Bernabéu, regardless of the team's impressive on-pitch achievements to date.
Confronting these accusations, Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde posted a powerful statement on Instagram, declaring: "Following a week filled with numerous comments, we stand more unified than ever. Possessing Vini and [Kylian] Mbappé brings fortune, but having the world's finest team dedicated is a privilege."
When questioned if receiving that statement provided comfort, Alonso seized the moment to indicate that reports of locker room discord lack foundation.
"I've consistently believed that the squad remains highly united," he stated. "We all understand and recognize our goal, which involves reaching late March, April, May with opportunities to claim every trophy.
"We stand together during positive moments and challenging periods. Such situations occur within football squads. We maintain excellent communication daily. Regardless of current discussions and certain individuals' desires, we remain extremely solid internally."
Alonso: Strong Bond With Jude Bellingham
Although Vinicius has become the center of speculation, particularly due to his visible expressions of dissatisfaction toward the manager, midfielder Jude Bellingham represents another player reportedly unhappy with Alonso.
Provided an opportunity to clarify matters, Alonso emphasized that no problems exist with Bellingham, and the two actually share a strong relationship.
"I maintain an excellent rapport with him," Alonso explained. "He possesses that hunger to develop, understand, contribute, and become more effective.
