Xabi Alonso Opens Up About Private Conversations with Rodrygo Regarding His Real Madrid Career

Real Madrid's head coach Xabi Alonso has expressed his continued confidence in Rodrygo despite ongoing speculation about the player's potential departure from the club.

Following transfer discussions that surfaced at the conclusion of the previous campaign, questions about Rodrygo's future have intensified during the summer period as he faces limited playing time under Alonso's management at the Club World Cup.

Although Madrid appears willing to consider offers for Rodrygo during this transfer window, recent reports suggest that Alonso has adopted a similar position and would not oppose the Brazilian's exit should he request a move.

Prior to Saturday's quarterfinal encounter against Borussia Dortmund, where Rodrygo aims to secure only his second starting appearance in the tournament, Alonso disclosed that he has held discussions with the 24-year-old regarding his position within the squad.

"I have complete confidence that Rodrygo can rediscover his peak performance," Alonso stated to reporters. "We've had conversations; he maintains a positive attitude, shows enthusiasm, and remains prepared whenever called upon."

Although Rodrygo is believed to attract interest from several Premier League clubs, Arsenal has emerged as the most serious contender for his signature.

According to MARCA, no official discussions have taken place between Madrid and any potential buyers regarding a transfer for Rodrygo. Any negotiations would likely involve the player's agents rather than direct club-to-club communication.

From Madrid's perspective, this situation presents no immediate concern. Club leadership remains open to retaining Rodrygo but has made it clear to the Brazilian that enhanced performance levels are required to secure his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabéu.

While improved form would certainly benefit Alonso's plans, it is understood that Madrid would welcome the opportunity to capitalize financially if Rodrygo succeeds in increasing his market value. To date, however, no clubs have demonstrated serious commitment to pursuing such a transaction.
