Xabi Alonso Raves About Kylian Mbappe's Stunning Transformation in La Liga Debut

Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso feels that Kylian Mbappé is displaying heightened determination this season as he seeks to make amends for his inaugural campaign's shortcomings.
Although Mbappé scored 44 goals in all competitions, his maiden season at Madrid didn't meet expectations both personally and as a team. Concerns were consistently raised about his chemistry with Vinicius Junior, and the club's failure to secure major trophies eventually led to Carlo Ancelotti losing his managerial position.
Alonso managed his debut La Liga match as Madrid's manager on Tuesday, guiding the team to a 1–0 victory against Osasuna thanks to Mbappé's decisive strike. The French forward now wears the iconic No. 10 jersey after Luka Modrić's exit.
Sporting his preferred number, Alonso emphasized that Mbappé appears transformed compared to his previous season's performances.

"Following his initial year, I believe he craves more success," Alonso observed. "Whether it stems from wearing the number or his winning mentality, the change is clear.
"You can sense his drive to excel individually while motivating his teammates. His hunger is visible daily, and today he produced those crucial moments that make the difference."
The season opener proved modest for Madrid, who again played without Rodrygo as Alonso chose not to utilize the Brazilian substitute. The manager remains confident about his squad, noting they're still adjusting after a shortened preseason period.
"There are encouraging aspects, beginning with the outcome, which matters most," Alonso commented. "Osasuna enjoyed a longer preseason preparation, and it was apparent; they appeared exceptionally organized. Had we found the net earlier, the entire dynamic would have shifted."
