Yashin Trophy 2025: Meet the Elite Goalkeepers Battling for Football's Most Prestigious Glove Award

A total of 10 shot-stoppers will compete for the prestigious 2025 Yashin Trophy title.
Initially awarded to Liverpool's Alisson in 2019, the Yashin Trophy honors the world's finest goalkeeper and pays tribute to the iconic Soviet Union legend Lev Yashin, who remains the sole goalkeeper to claim the Ballon d'Or.
Aston Villa's Emiliano Martínez currently holds the accolade, having secured victories in both 2023 and 2024, and the Argentine shot-stopper finds himself nominated once more for this year's honor.
Martínez represents one of four contenders from England's top flight. Alisson earns another nomination, having previously finished as runner-up in 2022, while Golden Glove winners David Raya and Matz Sels from Arsenal and Nottingham Forest respectively also make the list.
Paris Saint-Germain's Gianluigi Donnarumma stands among the frontrunners for the trophy. Despite facing transfer speculation, Donnarumma was instrumental in his team's Champions League triumph last season, making several crucial penalty saves throughout the campaign.
The goalkeeper expected to succeed Donnarumma at PSG, Lille's Lucas Chevalier, also earns recognition as Ligue 1's sole additional representative.
Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois makes his return to the nominees after injury prevented his inclusion twelve months prior, while across Madrid, Atlético's Jan Oblak aims to surpass his third-place showing from 2021.
Completing the shortlist are Al Hilal's Yassine Bounou, who impressed at the Club World Cup, and dependable Inter keeper Yan Sommer.
