Zinedine Zidane Plotting Spectacular Comeback to Management

Zinedine Zidane is allegedly preparing to take over from Didier Deschamps as France's upcoming national team coach.
Four years back, Zidane departed the Spanish capital for a second occasion, concluding his managerial stint with his former club. The French legend guided Real Madrid to 11 titles, including three straight Champions League victories, throughout his tenure on the sidelines at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Following his exit in 2021, Zidane has remained without another coaching role. Rather, there was widespread belief that the 53-year-old was biding his time to lead Les Bleus, a chance that L'Équipe suggests is approaching.
The French publication states Zidane is "getting ready" to take over from Deschamps after the 2026 FIFA World Cup. While no formal agreements have been finalized, it appears "clear" to those working behind the scenes that the former Real Madrid manager will become France's next national team chief.

As Zidane awaits his appointment, he is allegedly spending his time observing Ligue 1 and European fixtures, making observations and gathering "concepts regarding the future tactics" of Les Bleus.
This would represent a perfect return for Zidane, who earned 80 caps for France between 1990 and 2006. The iconic midfielder assisted his nation in reaching the 2006 FIFA World Cup final, where he notably received a red card before Italy secured victory through a penalty shootout.
Apart from his national connection, Zidane would also have the opportunity to guide numerous players with whom he maintains strong bonds through his Real Madrid associations. Indeed, the legend attended Kylian Mbappé's unveiling in the Spanish capital during 2024.
However, Zidane must wait at least another 10 months before he could achieve such a magnificent return to France. Deschamps remains the individual tasked with guiding Les Bleus in next summer's competition, where Mbappé and his teammates will aim to reach their third straight World Cup final.
