Liga MX Stars Ready to Clash with MLS in Epic 2025 All-Star Showdown This July

Liga MX has unveiled the initial 14 players selected for their all-star team that will compete against Major League Soccer All-Stars in this year's upcoming All-Star Game.

The Liga MX representatives were automatically chosen following their nominations for the league's Balón de Oro awards. These prestigious awards celebrate both the Apertura and Clausura tournaments where Club América and Toluca emerged as champions. Additionally, Cruz Azul defeated MLS competitor Vancouver Whitecaps in the Concacaf Champions Cup, with all three successful clubs having players included in this first selection.

Among those selected are prominent Mexico national team players such as goalkeeper Luis Malagón and Jesús Gallardo, who are currently participating in the Gold Cup tournament with El Tri.

In their previous encounter, Liga MX dominated MLS with an impressive 4–1 win. Considering Cruz Azul's commanding Champions Cup victory, LAFC's narrow triumph over Club América for a Club World Cup position in a play-off, and the forthcoming redesigned Leagues Cup format, competition between the two leagues remains intensely fierce.

MLS has yet to announce their initial player selections, though recent voting updates indicated popular figures like Lionel Messi, Evander, Jordi Alba, Alex Freeman and others leading the polls. The North American league will be aiming for a stronger showing in this year's exhibition match.

The 2025 MLS All-Star game will be held on July 23 at Q2 Stadium, home of Austin FC, starting at 9 p.m. ET.
