Gyokeres Breaks Silence: Cryptic Response Fuels Arsenal and Man Utd Transfer Speculation

Sporting CP forward Viktor Gyökeres has criticized the "false talk" circulating about his future, with the striker who's caught the attention of Arsenal and Manchester United promising to clarify matters when the time is right.

Gyökeres became one of the hottest striker prospects this summer after an incredible performance record of 97 goals and 28 assists in just 102 appearances for Sporting across the past two seasons.

Speculation indicated that interested clubs might secure Gyökeres for less than expected this summer. While his contract includes a €100 million (£84.6 million, $114.3 million) release clause, rumors suggested Sporting had agreed to accept €60 million (£50.8 million, $68.6 million) upfront plus €10 million (£8.5 million, $11.4 million) in additional bonuses.

As no transfer has yet occurred, reports claimed Gyökeres was "furious" that Sporting hadn't honored such an arrangement, though club president Frederico Varandas subsequently denied any agreement existed regarding a summer departure.

The increasingly complex transfer situation prompted Gyökeres to address the matter on social media, suggesting that much of the reporting about his future has been inaccurate.

"There is a lot of talks (sic) at the moment, most of it is false," the Swedish forward stated. "I will speak when the time is right."

The competition for Gyökeres's signature now appears primarily between two major contenders: Arsenal and United. The Manchester club, now managed by former Sporting boss Ruben Amorim, is believed to have made the most recent move.

Arsenal, on the other hand, seems to have directed their attention toward RB Leipzig's Benjamin Šeško. The Slovenian striker was initially thought to command a higher price, but Sporting's current position suggests this may no longer be the case.
