Spurs Suddenly Abandon Mbeumo Chase as Man Utd's Position Comes to Light

Tottenham Hotspur are considering a potential deal to bring Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo together with newly appointed manager Thomas Frank, according to emerging reports.

Frank departed Brentford this week to assume leadership at Spurs, who were previously thought to be staying away from pursuing Mbeumo. Manchester United have already put forward two offers for the Cameroon international after he expressed his desire to join the Old Trafford club this summer.

With Frank now at the helm, it seems Spurs have altered their transfer strategy. As reported by Sky Sports News, discussions have commenced between Tottenham and Brentford regarding Mbeumo's transfer, which has prompted the forward to reconsider a possible move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Although he previously showed no interest in signing for the team under Ange Postecoglou's management, he is reportedly "more intrigued" by the opportunity to reunite with Frank at Spurs.

Reports suggest, however, that Mbeumo still prefers a transfer to United, who are anticipated to submit an improved bid to secure his signature.

Manchester United are understood to have proposed over £60 million ($81.4 million), approaching Brentford's valuation of the 25-year-old. The Bees are willing to let Mbeumo leave for an appropriate fee, acknowledging that he has earned the right to a lucrative transfer if that's his preference.

Tottenham, who are also eyeing Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo, will hope Frank can persuade Mbeumo to join him in North London. Only Christian Nørgaard (262) has featured in more matches under Frank than Mbeumo (242), who was recruited from French second-division outfit Troyes in summer 2019.

Mbeumo isn't the only Brentford player on Tottenham's radar as The Guardian reports that Frank is also keen on acquiring his attacking partner Yoane Wissa.
