Breaking: Spurs on Verge of Sealing Deal for Bayern Wonderkid Mathys Tel

Tottenham Hotspur are nearing a deal with Bayern Munich for the permanent acquisition of French attacker Mathys Tel, according to confirmed sources.

Tel initially hesitated to join Spurs on a permanent basis during the January transfer window but ultimately accepted a loan move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Under Ange Postecoglou's management, he participated in 20 matches across all competitions and scored three goals.

Tottenham has an option to make Tel's transfer permanent for approximately €45 million (£38.3 million, $51.9 million), but they have been planning to negotiate a lower price with Bayern, who are willing to sell if the offer is right.

BILD reports that discussions between the two clubs are approaching a final agreement, with Tel expected to join Spurs permanently for a reduced fee of €35 million (£29.8 million, $40.4 million).

Despite Bayern still valuing Tel's potential, the German champions recognize they need to generate transfer funds this summer. With Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané both having left without transfer fees, Bayern finds themselves short of attacking options.

"We currently have two fewer players in our attacking department," sporting director Christoph Freund acknowledged. "That's a fact. Therefore, it is clearly our goal to strengthen ourselves there and add quality."

Bayern has set their sights on Athletic Club's Nico Williams, AC Milan's Rafael Leão and Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola, suggesting that the funds from Tel's sale will likely be immediately reinvested in another high-priced forward.

Tel is set to become the first signing under Thomas Frank's leadership at Spurs, who are also interested in strengthening their attack by pursuing Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, who is also a priority target for Manchester United.
