Messi Magic Now Affordable: Club World Cup Ticket Prices Plummet to Stunning Lows

FIFA has launched a new strategy to boost attendance at Hard Rock Stadium, offering tickets to Inter Miami's first FIFA Club World Cup match for as little as $4, but there's a condition attached.

Despite the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup opener featuring Lionel Messi and Inter Miami in just a matter of days, public enthusiasm appears lacking. According to The Athletic, there remain tens of thousands of unsold tickets for the Herons' first match against Egyptian team Al Ahly.

FIFA previously reduced ticket prices to as low as $55 last week, a significant drop from the $349 price point listed in December. While tickets for Real Madrid's matches along the East Coast are reportedly selling quickly, FIFA is implementing dramatic price cuts to attract spectators to see Messi and the Herons compete in Miami.

The Athletic disclosed that FIFA and Miami Dade College have formed a partnership offering college students a special promotion. According to an email campaign, students can purchase a single ticket for $20 and receive "up to four complimentary tickets" for Inter Miami's tournament opener on Saturday, June 14.

This means a student could acquire five tickets for just $20, effectively paying only $4 per person to watch Messi perform at Hard Rock Stadium.

The necessity to create such a heavily discounted affiliate deal to move tickets likely wasn't part of FIFA's vision when selecting Inter Miami as the host for this summer's tournament. Even the opportunity to witness Messi, widely regarded as one of soccer's greatest talents, isn't generating sufficient interest to fill Hard Rock Stadium's 64,000-plus capacity.

It's worth noting that ticket holders will also get to experience the tournament's opening ceremony live, featuring performances by French Montana and Swae Lee. The event will also showcase a vibrant display of the emblems of all 32 participating teams in the FIFA Club World Cup.

Regardless of how many fans attend, Inter Miami's priority will be securing a win in their tournament debut, especially after their disappointing start to the 2025 MLS season under coach Javier Mascherano.
