Club President Reveals: Ronaldo Received Multiple Lucrative World Cup Offers

Hicham Ait-Menna, who serves as president of Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca, has acknowledged making a bold attempt to recruit Cristiano Ronaldo for participation in this year's Club World Cup.
Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr is approaching its conclusion in the coming weeks, and speculation suggested he might join another team specifically for this summer's tournament, with potential moves to Moroccan or Brazilian clubs frequently mentioned before the Portuguese star publicly rejected such rumors.
Wydad Casablanca was among the teams rumored to be offering Ronaldo a short-term contract, and Ait-Menna has now confirmed efforts to secure the 40-year-old's services.
"Cristiano Ronaldo wouldn't join for financial reasons as he's already wealthy enough," Ait-Menna revealed to After Foot. "I'm unsure how the speculation began, but I can confirm that approximately three-and-a-half to four months ago, I reached out to someone connected to his agent and asked: 'Would he consider playing in the Club World Cup?'. The response was: 'Well, I don't think so'.
"We never engaged in serious negotiations for his transfer. While we desired to have him on our team, we lacked the financial capacity to meet his value. Unless he had expressed interest himself... I actually made two or three additional attempts!"
Ronaldo has acknowledged receiving "numerous offers" regarding potential participation in the Club World Cup, with some reports even suggesting he might temporarily join Al Hilal, the Saudi Arabian competitor in the tournament, on a brief loan arrangement.
Regarding his longer-term future, Ronaldo continues discussions with Al Nassr about extending his contract and has recently indicated his intention to remain with his current club beyond this season.
