Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany was reportedly rushed to the hospital after collapsing at the club's training facility following Friday's session.
A medical helicopter was dispatched to the scene before the Belgian coach was transported from Bayern's Säbener Straße training ground by ambulance, according to Bild. The club has since issued a statement providing an update on Kompany's condition.
"Vincent Kompany required medical attention on Friday after collapsing during Bayern Munich Amateur's [Bayern's second team] training session," Bayern Munich stated. "The first team head coach had been watching the reserve team's practice.
"Kompany will undergo thorough examinations at the hospital and will remain under medical supervision. In the meantime, his coaching staff will handle training sessions and match-related duties."
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl also addressed the situation: "Vincent Kompany's wellbeing is our absolute priority. We at FC Bayern will do everything possible to support his swift recovery. Vinnie will receive all the necessary medical care and attention, along with all the time he requires.
"His coaching staff, in whom we have full confidence, will assume his responsibilities. Everyone at FC Bayern wishes Vinnie a full and speedy recovery."
Why Kompany Was Rushed to the Hospital

There has been no official confirmation regarding the cause of Kompany's medical emergency, though the manager has been battling a severe viral infection over the past week.
Kompany was present on the sideline during Bayern's 6–1 victory over RB Leipzig last weekend, but reports suggest he had to lie down in the dressing room both before the match and at halftime. The infection has been aggravating old scar tissue, making it difficult for Kompany to climb stairs, per BILD.
The illness forced the former Manchester City captain to miss Bayern's last two training sessions as well as the pre-match press conference ahead of the 2–2 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League. After the game, Kompany opened up about his struggles.
"As a manager, you always want to give everything and accomplish everything," Kompany said following the Champions League fixture. "Last week, I came down with a serious virus and, naturally, I didn't listen to my body until it reached a point where it told me: 'Stop now!'"
Bayern Munich face a challenging away trip to third-placed Freiburg on Sunday. It remains unclear whether Kompany will be well enough to take his place on the touchline for the Bundesliga encounter.
