Ballon d'Or 2026: Every Goalkeeper Battling for the Prestigious Yashin Trophy Revealed

The shortlists for the 2026 Yashin Trophies have been revealed, featuring 10 men and five women.

Named in honor of Lev Yashin — the only goalkeeper in history to claim the Ballon d'Or — the Yashin Trophy recognizes the finest shot-stoppers in both men's and women's football. Individual performance carries the most weight in the selection criteria, followed by team achievements and fair play conduct.

Gianluigi Donnarumma claimed the men's title in 2025, but a new champion will be crowned this year as the Manchester City keeper was left off the nomination list.

The Clásico rivals are expected to be among the frontrunners. Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois is widely regarded as one of the elite keepers in world football, while Joan García will be full of confidence following an outstanding campaign with Barcelona that earned him his first-ever nomination for the prize.

Arsenal's David Raya, the current Premier League Golden Glove holder, is another strong contender, and he is joined on the list by new London rival Emiliano Martínez, who made the move to Chelsea this summer after earning his nomination during his spell with former club Aston Villa.

Paris Saint-Germain's Matvey Safonov and Borussia Dortmund's Gregor Kobel also feature, along with Saudi Arabia-based pair Yassine Bounou of Al Hilal and Édouard Mendy of Al Ahli.

Unai Simón earns his place on the list after playing a key role in Spain's World Cup triumph, while another standout from that tournament, 40-year-old Cabo Verde phenomenon Vozinha, completes the shortlist in remarkable fashion.

Both Courtois and Martínez are former winners of this accolade, with the Argentine having claimed it twice, in 2023 and 2024.

The Women's Yashin Trophy was presented for the first time last year, with Chelsea's Hannah Hampton making history as its inaugural recipient.

Hampton is in contention once more, alongside the goalkeepers who placed second and third in last year's standings. Gotham FC's Ann-Katrin Berger and Barcelona's Cata Coll are both aiming to go one better this time.

Manchester City's Japanese international Ayaka Yamashita is also in the running, with Kansas City Current's Lorena rounding out the women's shortlist.
