Ten goalkeepers have been named on the shortlist for the Yashin Trophy, as revealed on Tuesday.
The accolade, widely regarded as the premier individual honor for shot-stoppers, was established by France Football in 2019 as part of an expansion of their annual Ballon d'Or ceremony.
Gianluigi Donnarumma claimed the prize for the second time last year following his outstanding displays with Paris Saint-Germain, but he doesn't feature among the nominees this time, with the winner set to be announced in London on Oct. 26.
Here's a rundown of 2026's contenders, ranked by their chances of claiming the trophy.

10. Vozinha
Club: Chaves/Colo-Colo

If France Football were ever to introduce an award for best social media growth, Vozinha would be the obvious frontrunner.
The 40-year-old transformed from a relatively obscure keeper in the twilight of his career to amassing nearly 30 million Instagram followers within just a few weeks this summer.
His spectacular performances for Cabo Verde at the World Cup thrust him into the global spotlight and helped his nation advance to the round of 32—ultimately departing the tournament without a single defeat in 90 minutes.
Since then, Vozinha has signed with Chilean powerhouse Colo-Colo for what appears to be a farewell chapter of his career.
9. Thibaut Courtois
Club: Real Madrid
Honors: N/A
Undoubtedly among the world's elite goalkeepers, this has not been a particularly memorable year for Courtois by his own lofty standards.
The Belgian endured another silverware-free campaign at Real Madrid, though his value to the side was underscored when he missed a significant stretch of 2025–26 through injury during the spring.
A similar narrative unfolded for Belgium at the World Cup, with the Red Devils falling in the quarterfinals against Spain after Courtois was forced off with an injury.
He finished second in La Liga for clean sheets and fourth for save percentage last season.
8. Yassine Bounou
Club: Al Hilal
Honors: King's Cup, Africa Cup of Nations
The Canada-born goalkeeper demonstrated he remains a top-class operator at 35, delivering a series of eye-catching performances at the summer's World Cup as Morocco advanced to the quarterfinals.
Before that, he technically became an Africa Cup of Nations champion earlier this year—also claiming the Golden Glove at the home tournament.
He also secured a King's Cup triumph with his club side in Saudi Arabia.
7. Édouard Mendy
Club: Al Ahli
Honors: AFC Champions League
The Senegalese shot-stopper has now secured consecutive AFC Champions League titles, keeping a clean sheet in this season's final.
He also claimed the Saudi Pro League Golden Glove for 2026, strengthening his case as one of the finest keepers plying their trade outside of Europe.
The 34-year-old, who finished runner-up in the 2021 Yashin Trophy, also featured in the contentious Africa Cup of Nations final—memorably denying Brahim Díaz with a late penalty save.
6. Emiliano Martínez
Club: Aston Villa/Chelsea
Honors: Europa League
It's been another landmark season for Martínez, who lifted the Europa League with Aston Villa, appeared in his second World Cup final with Argentina, and secured a move to Chelsea.
Even so, the two-time former Yashin Trophy winner is unlikely to be counted among the leading contenders for the award this year.
While his save percentage in 2025–26 was a respectable 70.9%, he ranked just 15th for clean sheets in the Premier League.
5. Gregor Kobel
Club: Borussia Dortmund
Honors: N/A
The Swiss goalkeeper is another shortlisted keeper who caught the eye at the World Cup, recording two clean sheets as Switzerland progressed to the quarterfinals.
Only two keepers registered more saves than Kobel throughout the North American tournament, and he also produced the decisive stop from Cucho Hernández's spot-kick in the shootout win over Colombia in the round of 16.
In the Bundesliga in 2025–26, no goalkeeper surpassed his tally of 15 clean sheets.
4. Matvey Safonov
Club: PSG
Honors: Ligue 1, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup
Initially brought in as a backup, Safonov has steadily grown in prominence at Paris Saint-Germain, ultimately persuading Luis Enrique that he was the rightful heir to the first-choice goalkeeper role following Gianluigi Donnarumma's exit.
The Russian produced crucial saves throughout the defending champions' Champions League campaign—most notably in a thrilling semifinal clash against Bayern Munich.
He did not, however, make a save in the penalty shootout victory over Arsenal in the final, with both Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhães failing to find the target.
3. David Raya
Club: Arsenal
Honors: Premier League, World Cup
It was yet another outstanding season for Raya, who claimed his third consecutive Premier League Golden Glove, posting 19 clean sheets and conceding only 26 goals throughout 2025–26.
His composure, reflexes, and distribution were central pillars of Mikel Arteta's formidable defense as they secured the Premier League title for the first time in more than 20 years.
The Spaniard was also included in the Champions League Team of the Season and was part of Spain's triumphant World Cup-winning squad.
2. Unai Simón
Club: Athletic Club
Honors: World Cup
Despite having a wealth of talent to choose from ahead of the World Cup, Spain boss Luis de la Fuente remained steadfast and retained Simón as his first-choice goalkeeper for the tournament, despite a modest club campaign.
The 29-year-old went on to enjoy a historic tournament, conceding just one goal across eight matches as Spain lifted the trophy.
His seven clean sheets in North America set a new World Cup record and earned him the Golden Glove award.
1. Joan García
Club: Barcelona
Honors: La Liga, Supercopa de España, World Cup
The Catalan shot-stopper had a remarkable debut season as a Barcelona player following a €25 million ($29 million) switch from Espanyol.
In addition to winning La Liga, García was presented with the Zamora Trophy (awarded to Spain's finest goalkeeper of the season) along with the Save of the Season accolade.
No goalkeeper posted a higher save percentage than his 77.9% figure in 2025–26.
Restricted to a bench role at the World Cup this summer, he nonetheless collected a winner's medal as part of Spain's triumphant squad.
