Carabao Cup Quarterfinal Draw Revealed: Liverpool and Man City Discover Their Paths to the Final

A fascinating showdown between Liverpool and Bournemouth at Anfield is the standout fixture in Wednesday's Carabao Cup quarterfinal draw.

All qualified teams awaited their next opponents following Liverpool's victory over Chelsea at Anfield. Andoni Iraola's side became the second-to-last team to secure a quarterfinal berth, joining Premier League rivals Manchester City, Bournemouth, Sunderland, and Crystal Palace in the last eight, alongside Fleetwood Town and Bradford City.

Everton and Newcastle United are the only two clubs yet to contest their fourth round tie. They will meet under the floodlights at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Thursday, with the winner set to face Fleetwood in the quarterfinals.

The headline fixture of the quarterfinals sees Liverpool host the Cherries. Iraola will go up against his former club for the second time this campaign, and he will be eager to guide the Reds to another triumph, similar to the one they secured back in September at the Vitality Stadium.

Manchester City were handed a considerably kinder draw, facing League One outfit Bradford City at the Etihad. Crystal Palace, meanwhile, will take on Sunderland just days before the two sides meet again in the Premier League.

There is a notably extended gap between the end of the fourth round and the quarterfinals. Carabao Cup action does not resume until mid-December, when the remaining eight clubs will battle for a semifinal spot just as the festive period begins to ramp up.

Just as players will be craving rest after a grueling run of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year's matches, they must prepare for the first leg of the semifinals on Jan. 11. The second leg will follow three weeks later on Feb. 1.

The two sides that navigate the entire run will meet at Wembley Stadium, where the winner will be crowned Carabao Cup champions on March 21.
