Manchester City and Inter Milan face off in Hong Kong this Saturday, marking the beginning of Enzo Maresca's era with the Citizens.
Maresca was officially confirmed as Pep Guardiola's replacement on June 29, having departed from his role as Chelsea manager earlier in the year. The Italian spent three seasons as Guardiola's assistant and had long been considered one of the few candidates capable of stepping into the legendary City manager's shoes.
Their first fixture in the Asia-Pacific region sees them go head-to-head with the Nerazzurri for the first time since the 2023 Champions League final, when City secured the treble by defeating Simone Inzaghi's squad 1–0 in Istanbul, thanks to a Rodri strike.
Inzaghi has since been succeeded by Cristian Chivu, and Inter enter the summer as reigning Scudetto champions. They romped to the Serie A title last campaign and are looking to strengthen further by acquiring former Manchester City defenders Manuel Akanji and John Stones on permanent transfers.
