Chelsea's extended preseason tour gets underway in Sydney on Tuesday, as the Blues take on local A-League outfit Western Sydney Wanderers at Accor Stadium.
Xabi Alonso takes the reins for his first match as Chelsea manager, having been confirmed as Liam Rosenior's replacement prior to the conclusion of a deeply underwhelming 2025–26 season.
Alonso won't have his complete squad available for this one, though Sydney will be treated to the effortless quality of Cole Palmer and the dynamic center-forward performances of João Pedro. Chelsea, despite leaning heavily on their young talent, should comfortably dispatch last season's A-League wooden spooners.
The Wanderers suffered a historically poor campaign last time around and are now under the guidance of Ufuk Talay. Tuesday will mark only Talay's second game in charge, with his debut ending in a 2–0 win over Tigers FC in the Australia Cup round of 32.

What's Next for Chelsea?
Chelsea are clocking up considerable air miles this summer. After squaring off against Spurs in a Sydney friendly next Saturday, the Blues head to the Far East for two matches against Serie A opposition.
