Dream Job Alert: Get Paid $50,000 to Watch Every World Cup Match as 'Chief World Cup Watcher'

Fed up with the daily grind? It might finally be time to hand in your resignation.

FOX Sports is on the lookout for a "Chief World Cup Watcher," offering one fortunate soccer enthusiast the chance to get paid for watching every single minute of all 104 matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup this summer. The gig pays $50,000 over seven weeks of dedicated, full-time fandom, running from June 6 through July 29.

The role, naturally, comes with some weekend commitments, and the chosen candidate will receive relocation compensation to New York City for the entirety of the tournament, where they'll watch matches from inside a custom glass office set right in the heart of Times Square — like a true office worker, rather than from the luxury of their own sofa.

Before you hand in your notice and toss your name into the hat, however, there are a few additional responsibilities worth knowing about.

The Job Description

World Cup trophy

The candidate must be ready for extended viewing marathons. While overnight stays in the office aren't required — accommodation is covered — there will be plenty of late-night soccer sessions.

They must also be at ease with being in the public eye. The Times Square office — a see-through plexiglass cube situated on the street — will offer maximum exposure, with thousands of tourists and passersby strolling past, waving and snapping photos every day.

"If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be a zoo exhibit, but with air conditioning and faster Wi-Fi, this is your chance," the job listing states.

Whoever lands the role is expected to wear their emotions on their sleeve throughout the tournament, from the euphoria of last-minute goals to the tension of penalty shootouts and the devastation of elimination.

The position also calls for someone comfortable in front of a camera and, ideally, someone with a social media following and the ability to produce a steady stream of daily content about the experience.

"You know how to keep the feed stocked with engaging social content, can spell TikTok, and can speak confidently to a camera without immediately replaying it and cringing," the listing's requirements state. "You have a social media presence across all platforms...[and] you won't go blank if an A-List celebrity or sports icon stops by the cube to catch a match with you."

The role seems to prioritize personality — being charismatic and entertaining — over deep soccer knowledge. If this still sounds like your dream job, applications are now open on Indeed.
