FIFA has announced that, for the first time ever, a Super Bowl-style halftime show will be held during the 2026 World Cup final.
The 2026 World Cup is set to make history in multiple ways: it will be the first tournament co-hosted by three nations, the first to feature 48 teams, spanning 104 matches — and now, the final of football's greatest event will include a live musical halftime performance.
"For the first time in FIFA World Cup history, the final will feature a Halftime Show, bringing together superstars for a singular moment at the intersection of sport, culture, and purpose, broadcast live around the world," FIFA stated.
"A FIFA World Cup first, the Halftime Show supports the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. A landmark initiative working to raise $100 million to expand access to quality education and football for children around the world."

The 2026 World Cup final halftime show will be headlined by Shakira, Madonna, and BTS, with the lineup curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
It was Martin who selected the headline acts for this historic World Cup first, and he played a central role in the video announcement that unveiled the performers.

Madonna is a seven-time Grammy winner, while BTS made history in 2020 as the first K-Pop act ever to earn a Grammy nomination.
Shakira, a four-time Grammy recipient, is deeply intertwined with World Cup culture, having crafted some of the most memorable tournament anthems of all time. This won't even be her first appearance at a World Cup final — she performed at the opening ceremony of the 2014 final at the legendary Estadio Maracaná in Brazil.
How Long Will the World Cup Final Halftime Show Last?
The exact duration of the 2026 World Cup final halftime show remains unconfirmed, though a recent precedent offers a useful reference point.
FIFA staged a halftime show during the 2025 Club World Cup final between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain last summer. That performance, headlined by Colombian star J Balvin, ran for just over 11 minutes.
This runtime is comparable to the typical length of halftime shows seen at the NFL's Super Bowl.
While a standard soccer halftime break lasts 15 minutes, the live concert element could push the interval during the 2026 World Cup final to nearly double that. The halftime break at the 2025 Club World Cup final ran for approximately 25 minutes.
