France Unveil Their 2026 World Cup Squad: Every Player Named and the Stunning Snub That Has Everyone Talking

France has revealed its 26-man roster for the 2026 World Cup, with one notable absence standing out from Didier Deschamps's selection.

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga was left out of the squad, missing the summer's marquee tournament across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Frenchman, who represented Les Bleus at the 2022 World Cup, will have no opportunity to help his nation go one better than their runner-up result four years prior.

The exclusion follows a difficult campaign for Camavinga at the Bernabéu. Between defensive errors, limited playing time, and his costly red card in the Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Bayern Munich, the 23-year-old will be keen to put the 2025–26 season behind him.

While Camavinga watches from home, his compatriots and club teammates Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni earned their places in the squad, as did Ousmane Dembélé, Michael Olise and William Saliba, among others.

Kylian Mbappé Sends Heartfelt World Cup Message

France enters the tournament as one of the frontrunners to claim the title, largely due to the presence of Mbappé. The 27-year-old attacker already has a World Cup winners' medal to his name, and came agonizingly close to securing a second in Qatar, falling short only in a penalty shootout.

Preparing to feature in his third World Cup this summer, Mbappé turned to social media to mark the official squad announcement on Thursday evening.

"World Cup Part 3," he posted on Instagram, alongside photos from his two prior World Cup campaigns framing a childhood image of himself wearing a France jersey. "An immense pride to be able to represent my country once again in the biggest competitions.

"We'll try to make you proud."

France opens its tournament in Group I, facing Senegal, Iraq and Norway. The 2018 champions are widely tipped to top their group before advancing to the knockout rounds.
