Jadon Sancho's future continues to hang in the balance following his exit from Manchester United in June, with reports suggesting he turned down a surprise offer from Qatari club Al Rayyan.
The 25-year-old arrived at Old Trafford in 2021 in a $100 million (£73 million) deal, but his time at the club proved deeply disappointing. Three loan stints were arranged at Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, and most recently Aston Villa in an attempt to reignite his career, yet none of those clubs opted to make his move permanent.
With United unable to recover any transfer fee for Sancho, they were left to see him walk away on a free transfer when his contract expired this summer, leaving the English winger still without a new club.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Sancho is currently "weighing up all possibilities" as a free agent, with interest reportedly coming from clubs across both the Middle East and Europe.
Al Rayyan is among those clubs. The Qatar Stars League has become an increasingly attractive and well-paying destination for players departing European football. Roberto Firmino, Julian Draxler, and Aleksandar Mitrović—the last of whom currently represents Al Rayyan—are among those now competing in the league.
However, an "initial enquiry" submitted three weeks ago has gone unanswered, with no further discussions taking place. Al Rayyan are unlikely to submit a fresh bid, adding to the growing uncertainty surrounding Sancho's next move.
Which European Clubs Could Target Sancho?
There is no shortage of interest from high-profile clubs lining up for Sancho's services. The winger has struggled to consistently reproduce the outstanding Borussia Dortmund form he showed before his move to United, and he is expected to command a considerable package in both wages and a signing-on fee.
Nevertheless, speculation about a third stint at Dortmund has emerged, with German outlet Bild recently reporting BVB's renewed interest. The club recently lost key forward Karim Adeyemi, who completed a $33 million (€29 million) move to Barcelona.

Sancho could also make his way to Italy or Spain if earlier reports hold any weight. Serie A outfit Fiorentina have been mentioned as potential suitors, along with Atlético Madrid—though he would seem an unlikely match for Diego Simeone's hard-working system.
Naturally, even if a deal with Al Rayyan fails to materialise, a switch to the Middle East remains a realistic possibility. The Saudi Pro League has frequently attracted high-profile players whose careers have stalled in Europe, and Sancho could be seen as a strong addition to the division.
