Kobbie Mainoo's 'Bumper' New Deal Revealed: How His Salary Stacks Up Against Man Utd Stars

Kobbie Mainoo's lucrative new Manchester United contract reportedly includes a significantly boosted salary of approximately £150,000 ($202,000) per week.

The new agreement has been a lengthy process for Mainoo. The United academy product signed his previous contract at just 17 years old, with only 77 minutes of first-team football under his belt. Given the enormous expectations surrounding the talented midfielder, he was awarded a deal worth roughly $108,000 per week, as reported by The Times.

Mainoo gradually accumulated playing time under Erik ten Hag before truly establishing himself during the 2023–24 season. The likable youngster from Stockport capped the campaign by netting in a victorious FA Cup final, then went on to start for England in the marquee match at Euro 2024.

Injuries and an inability to persuade Ruben Amorim that he could partner Bruno Fernandes—rather than replace the untouchable club captain—hampered Mainoo's progress, fueling widespread rumors of a departure from Old Trafford rather than an extension to his contract, which was due to run until 2027.

The arrival of Michael Carrick has sparked a dramatic turnaround in Mainoo's career trajectory. Now a guaranteed starter for a squad back competing in the Champions League, United are ready to tie down their prized academy talent to a new deal through 2031.

The new contract comes with revised terms of approximately $202,000 per week, per the Daily Mail. While this represents nearly double what Mainoo earned over the previous three years, he still sits well short of the club's highest-paid players.

Where Mainoo Ranks Among Man Utd's Top Earners

Kobbie Mainoo, Casemiro

Casemiro is widely regarded as Manchester United's highest-paid player—which is a key factor in why the Red Devils are open to parting with their influential midfielder. Mainoo's midfield partner is believed to earn around $470,000 per week, more than twice Mainoo's wages.

Bruno Fernandes is the only other player currently on United's books in the same pay bracket as Casemiro. The Portuguese skipper is believed to take home approximately $405,000 per week, according to The Telegraph. Marcus Rashford would be entitled to a comparable wage should he return from his loan stint at Barcelona at the close of the season, as anticipated.

There is a notable drop to the next tier. The same publication reports that Matheus Cunha agreed to a contract worth around $270,000 per week upon his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers to Old Trafford last summer. Bryan Mbeumo arrived later in the same window and is believed to earn slightly less than Cunha, with his figure of $202,000 per week cited by The Guardian—matching Mainoo's new salary.

Matthijs de Ligt reportedly accepted a reduced wage to make the move from Bayern Munich to Manchester United in the summer of 2022, yet was still considered the club's best-paid defender at an estimated $260,000 per week. Harry Maguire was thought to earn a comparable sum before agreeing to a notable pay reduction on his new contract, which is reportedly lower than what Mainoo now earns.

Benjamin Šeško's agent confirmed that his client turned down more lucrative offers in favor of the prestige of signing for Manchester United. "I think it was also important that Benjamin's desire has always been Manchester United," Elvis Basanovič stated. "Because of that, he was willing to accept a slightly lower salary and I also accepted a lower commission." The precise details of that agreement were believed to be around $216,000 per week, according to Slovenian outlet Sportklub.
