Man City Surge to the Top: How Their Remaining Premier League Fixtures Stack Up Against Arsenal's

Arsenal had topped the Premier League standings for 197 days this season, but Manchester City's narrow 1–0 win against Burnley on Wednesday evening has seen them overtaken at the summit.

The Citizens climbed above their title challengers on goal difference with three vital points at Turf Moor, building on their commanding win over Arsenal the previous weekend. Pep Guardiola's squad has closed the gap on the Gunners and now carries the momentum heading into the final stretch.

Both clubs have just five games left in the Premier League season, making this a straight head-to-head battle for the title. City may hold the advantage at the top, but they must see out the job in the final weeks.

Here is a look at how the remaining fixtures stack up for Man City and Arsenal for the rest of the campaign.

After weeks of disappointment and anxiety for Arsenal fans, the encouraging news is that their remaining schedule looks more manageable than City's—at least on paper. Three of their final five matches will be played at home, starting with this weekend's game against an inconsistent Newcastle United side.

The Emirates Stadium then welcomes Fulham at the start of May, just days after the Champions League semifinal first leg against Atlético Madrid. The second leg follows shortly before Arsenal travel to relegation-battling West Ham United on May 10.

Arsenal take on already-relegated Burnley in their last home fixture of the season, before wrapping up their campaign across London at Crystal Palace. The Eagles may rotate their squad for that match if they advance to the Conference League final, which takes place just three days afterwards.

Man City have no European commitments to contend with, though they remain in the FA Cup. Their semifinal against Southampton is set for this weekend, with the final scheduled for May 16 if they get past the Saints.

Following their semifinal, Guardiola's side will look to maintain their impressive run when they travel to Everton in their next league outing, before returning home to face Brentford. Both opponents still have plenty to play for as they chase European football.

An away trip to Bournemouth—subject to change if City reach the FA Cup final—is pencilled in for May 17, and their only other confirmed league fixture is the home clash against Aston Villa on May 24.

City do, however, have one outstanding fixture yet to be scheduled. Their home game against Crystal Palace was called off earlier in the season and is still awaiting a rearranged date from the Premier League.
