Manchester United are "paying serious attention" to West Ham United winger Crysencio Summerville as the club looks to bring in a left winger during the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Having sent Marcus Rashford out on loan for the past year and a half, the Red Devils spent last season experimenting with various options on the left flank. Matheus Cunha eventually made the role his own, though he is not a natural winger and remains better suited to playing through the middle.
Bringing Rashford back into the fold is one possibility, though perhaps a last resort. Michael Carrick hasn't ruled it out, but also spoke fairly candidly in March about the prospect of recruiting a new face.

Until recently, Yan Diomande had been the name generating the most buzz. The teenager had a breakthrough campaign with RB Leipzig and made an impressive World Cup debut for Côte d'Ivoire on Sunday evening. However, Leipzig are expected to demand around $116 million (€100 million, £86.5 million) for a player who is still largely untested at the highest level—a move for him could become more realistic in 2027.
Iliman Ndiaye and Morgan Rogers have also been mentioned, though neither is necessarily a stronger fit for the position than Cunha. Paris Saint-Germain's Bradley Barcola is another potential option, with reports suggesting he is unhappy with his playing time in the French capital and could be open to a move.
Crysencio Summerville Cheaper Than Other Man Utd Targets

Summerville has now entered the picture. Following his impressive World Cup showing for the Netherlands against Japan—netting once and putting in a tenacious defensive effort—The Athletic reports that Manchester United have "enquired" about the 24-year-old's availability. While Summerville remains one of "multiple options" being assessed, a $67.1 million (£50 million) asking price makes him a more affordable prospect compared to the other names in the frame.
West Ham paid roughly half that amount to acquire Summerville from Leeds United in 2024. The Hammers' relegation from the Premier League last month makes it increasingly difficult to hold onto their top talent, including fellow Old Trafford target Mateus Fernandes.
After a slow start to the 2025–26 campaign, Summerville hit his stride in January, finding the net in four consecutive Premier League outings. A minor injury in March disrupted his rhythm, however, and he was unable to replicate that form over the final stretch of the season.
West Ham Defiant Over Summerville, Fernandes, Bowen

The challenge for any club eyeing Summerville, Fernandes, or Jarrod Bowen is that West Ham are keen to avoid a bargain sell-off of their key assets. Daniel Křetínský, who is set to become the club's largest single shareholder and effectively take charge of operations in east London, insists there is no financial pressure to sell, with the club backing themselves to win immediate promotion.
"We have a very credible strategy," Křetínský told The Times. "We don't need to sell the players for financial reasons. We are doing this to make sure we are promoted back to the Premier League immediately. That is our only goal.
"Key players are waiting for us. They want to see there is a real chance of keeping the squad together. What matters is funding, strategy and consistency. We have spoken to all of them. They need to see that our project is real and serious. Promotion is our only goal."
If Summerville, Fernandes, and Bowen all remain at the club—something that may not reflect the wishes of the first two but seems more likely for Bowen—West Ham's stint in the EFL Championship should be a short one. Summerville's time in the second tier with Leeds United in 2023–24 yielded 28 combined goals and assists in the regular season, demonstrating that the Dutchman is built for a higher stage.
