Mark Your Calendar: Here's When La Liga Drops the 2026–27 Fixture Schedule!

The 2026–27 La Liga season is shaping up to be one of the most thrilling in recent memory for a variety of compelling reasons.

Barcelona will be gunning for a third consecutive La Liga crown after narrowly defeating Real Madrid in each of the past two seasons, while Los Blancos appear determined to end that streak. Re-elected president Florentino Pérez has overseen a significant summer overhaul, including the return of José Mourinho to the dugout and the acquisition of several marquee signings: Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté and Bernardo Silva, with Denzel Dumfries also anticipated to complete a move to the club.

It may not be a two-horse race, however. Atlético Madrid continue to pose a consistent challenge, while a revitalized Villarreal—who claimed third place last season—also appear stronger under new head coach Iñigo Pérez, who recently led Rayo Vallecano to the Europa Conference League final.

Elsewhere, storied club Deportivo de La Coruña makes its return to the top flight after finishing as runners-up in the Segunda División, alongside Málaga, who are back in La Liga for the first time since 2017–18 following their promotion via the 2025–26 playoffs.

With all of that in mind, you may be curious about when the fixture schedule for the 2026–27 season will be unveiled. Here's everything you need to know.

The fixture schedule for the 2026–27 La Liga and Segunda División seasons will be published on June 30, though full scheduling details will not be included at that point.

Initially, the league will release matchups on a round-by-round basis, but precise dates and kick-off times will not be confirmed straight away. These are typically added at a later stage due to various scheduling considerations, including television broadcast demands, European competition obligations and Copa del Rey fixtures.

Finalized kick-off times are generally confirmed in stages, often three to five weeks ahead of each matchday, depending on the evolving calendar.

What is already confirmed is the start date: the 2026–27 La Liga season is expected to kick off on the weekend of Aug. 15.

The end of the campaign has not yet been officially confirmed, but it is expected to fall on either May 23 or May 30, 2027.

For the 2026–27 season, the international break calendar has been slightly modified.

Rather than three separate one-week breaks during the autumn months, the schedule will now include one extended two-week break alongside a shorter one-week pause. As a result, there will be no league action on the weekends of Sep. 26, Oct. 3 and Nov. 14.

Additionally, a further international break is scheduled for the weekend of Mar. 27.
