Nottingham Forest Shake Up The Dugout Again With Fifth Manager Hired In Less Than A Year

Nottingham Forest have officially announced Oliver Glasner as their new manager.

Former boss Vítor Pereira had his four-month spell brought to an abrupt end in late June, with a termination clause activated just two minutes before it lapsed. Glasner, who left Crystal Palace at the conclusion of last season, was quickly identified as the preferred candidate and an agreement has now been reached.

"I'm thrilled to be joining Nottingham Forest as head coach," Glasner said through club media. "From my very first discussions with the owner and the leadership team, it was clear to me that they have a defined vision for this football club and complete confidence and faith in me and my staff to build a strong future together over the long term.

"That confidence and mutual commitment, along with the potential I see within the squad, were crucial factors for me and I am eager about what we can accomplish together.

"Nottingham Forest is a club with remarkable prestige and history, a two-time European Champion with one of the most devoted fan bases in football. Our goal is to build a team that can help elevate the club to the next level in the coming years and that our supporters can take pride in.

"My immediate priority is meeting the players and staff and getting down to work as we kick off pre-season. I'm looking forward to the future and will work relentlessly to represent this great club with pride and to deliver success on the pitch. I can't wait to get going."

Nottingham Forest's Desperate Search for Stability

Evangelos Marinakis

A year ago, things looked fairly settled for Nottingham Forest. They wrapped up seventh in the Premier League, securing a Conference League spot but with genuine frustration at missing out on both the Champions League and Europa League, given the high standard of their performances throughout the campaign.

In September 2025, everything shifted. Then-manager Nuno Espírito Santo fell out with owner Evangelos Marinakis and was promptly shown the door.

Ange Postecoglou, his successor, survived just eight matches, Sean Dyche managed 25 and Pereira's fight against relegation was given only 20 games as the turmoil spilled onto the pitch.

Glasner now becomes the fifth permanent manager since the start of the 2025–26 season, with Marinakis convinced the club will benefit from bringing in a natural "winner."

"In our conversations with Oliver, it was evident that we share the same vision, the same ambition and the same relentless drive to succeed," Marinakis said. "He has consistently shown throughout his career that he can build exceptional teams and deliver results against the toughest competition.

"It has always been our objective to re-establish Nottingham Forest among the top clubs in England and Europe. Our ambition is not merely to compete—our ambition is to win, to challenge for major trophies and to create a football club that our supporters can be proud of for many years to come.

"Oliver is a winner. He has achieved success through his leadership, his character and the style of football his teams produce. We believe he is the right person to guide us into this new chapter, and I am delighted to welcome Oliver to the club."
