Paul Mullin says he remains uncertain about what lies ahead for him at Wrexham as he heads into the final year of his deal.
The 31-year-old has cemented himself as a true legend at the North Wales club due to the pivotal role he played in their extraordinary ascent from the National League to the Championship. Mullin netted an incredible 110 goals in 170 competitive outings for Wrexham and made an equally profound impact on the local community, forging a deep connection with the club's devoted supporters.
Mullin took a significant gamble when he dropped down the divisions to sign with them as a non-league outfit and quickly became a recognizable name thanks to his prolific goalscoring and his prominent role in the FX documentary series Welcome to Wrexham, which highlighted his character and family values.
His accomplishments are all the more impressive given the injury setbacks he has had to overcome. He missed the beginning of the League Two promotion campaign after sustaining a punctured lung and four broken ribs during a preseason win over Manchester United U21s, yet still managed to net 24 league goals.
The following summer, he had back surgery and made just 17 appearances as the club won promotion from League One. After the club's promotion to the Championship, he was sent on loan to League One outfit Wigan Athletic before the move was terminated in January. He subsequently joined Bradford City for the rest of the season but made only nine appearances and was omitted from their final four matchday squads.
Paul Mullin Issues Update on His Wrexham Future

The fact that Mullin was not considered up to the level required to feature in the Championship before the season got underway suggests another departure could be on the horizon this summer.
Mullin has already voiced his frustration over how his loan moves were handled, with the striker unhappy about the limited opportunities he received after contributing so much to the club and going through back surgery.
His fading involvement is one of the few disappointments during the club's rapid rise, with key figures from the early days quickly replaced as casualties of their own success.
Mullin will be required to report for initial preseason assessments with Wrexham this summer as part of his contractual commitments, though he finds himself in the same position as several other players who are likely to be told their futures lie elsewhere.
Speaking on "The Overlap," both Mullin and Wrexham defender Conor Coady were questioned about their immediate futures at the club.
"Definitely in the summer, I'll be heading back for preseason and I'll have a conversation with the manager," Coady said. "I've already spoken to him. I think people assume when you leave a club, something has gone wrong. Nothing happened—I just wasn't getting the game time at that point, and I'm desperate to play football. A chance came up in January, I spoke to the manager at Charlton, who was absolutely fantastic with me, and I took it."
Mullin echoed those sentiments, adding: "Same as Conor, I'll be going back. I haven't really heard from the manager for most of the season anyway, apart from in January. When you're contracted to the club and you love it there, you go back and see what unfolds."
Mullin may feel let down by how things have wound down in North Wales, but he will always be considered a club icon and hold a cherished place in the hearts of Wrexham supporters. Despite his evident frustration, he still had nothing but positive words to say about his five-year stint with the club.
"It was incredible, and it has been a Hollywood story. I know people say it's not a fairytale, but it really is for the fans especially," he said. "They went 15 years without being in the [Football] League, nearly faced extinction, and had to put their own money in just to keep the club alive. To be in the position they're in now, finishing just outside the playoffs this season, has been unbelievable.
"It has been everything that everyone has witnessed. It has been a journey and a ride, and I don't think it's going to stop given the ambitions of the people running the club."
