USMNT standout Folarin Balogun is reportedly set for a move to Premier League club Everton just hours before the summer transfer window closes on Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET, per The Athletic.
The Merseyside blue half has agreed to a deal worth an initial $52.3–54 million (€45–46.7 million, £38.58–40 million), with up to $5.8 million (€5 million, £4.3 million) in potential bonuses, making him the seventh USMNT player currently in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old forward had two years left on his contract with Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco; however, speculation about his future quickly gained momentum. The American put on an impressive showing at the World Cup on home soil this summer, netting three goals across four games, reportedly attracting interest from several high-profile clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain. It was also reported that no discussions over a contract extension had taken place between him and Monaco.
Balogun also shone throughout France last season, setting a career-best of 19 goals and chipping in five assists across 43 Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League appearances.
The rising talent is expected to take over the starting striker role from Beto at Goodison Park, as Everton look to push through a sale of the Guinea-Bissau forward to an Italian top-flight club before the looming deadline.
A Premier League Return
Though Balogun was born in New York to Nigerian parents — giving him U.S. citizenship and eligibility for the USMNT — he was raised in London, and earning a prominent Premier League role has long been a personal ambition.
He came through Arsenal's academy and broke into the senior squad during the 2021–22 season, but was unable to cement himself as a regular starter, leading to loan spells at Middlesbrough and then in Ligue 1. He began his French football journey with Stade de Reims in 2022–23 before joining Monaco in 2024.
With 12 goals in 31 appearances for the USMNT since his international debut in 2023, he has firmly established himself as the go-to striker under Mauricio Pochettino and will be central to the team's ambitions as they pursue silverware in the lead-up to the 2030 World Cup.
Having finished 13th in the Premier League last season with 49 points, Everton kicked off the new campaign by collecting four points from their opening two fixtures, including a 2–0 victory over Crystal Palace and a 1–1 stalemate with AFC Bournemouth.
Balogun would arrive as the club's headline attacking acquisition ahead of Tuesday's transfer deadline and could potentially make his debut against Manchester United on Saturday.
