Real Madrid have ended negotiations with Vinícius Júnior, reportedly delivering a firm ultimatum to the Brazilian star regarding his contract situation.
Vinícius Jr. has been embroiled in a contract dispute with Los Blancos for several months. His current deal runs out at the end of the 2026–27 season, now just 11 months away, at which point he would become a free agent.
Even long after Xabi Alonso departed the Bernabéu—their strained relationship was believed to have stalled talks for a period—Vinícius Jr. has still failed to reach an agreement with the club he famously joined at just 16 years old.
Real Madrid face mounting pressure to settle the matter one way or another. Should Vinícius Jr. refuse to sign, he could walk away for free next summer, leaving the club without a player currently valued at an estimated $160.8 million (€140 million)—according to transfermarkt.

Earlier in 2026, ESPN revealed that Vinícius Jr. currently earns €17 million per season after tax, has been offered a net increase to €20 million, but is holding out for €30 million through additional bonus payments.
