Just when Chelsea believed they had put the Reece James injury saga behind them, the Blues have found themselves dragged right back into familiar territory.
The Blues skipper has an unfortunate track record with fitness setbacks, having missed a combined 97 games across the 2022–23, 2023–24 and 2024–25 seasons — before what appeared to be a turning point last campaign, when a hamstring problem in March was his sole significant absence.
Sadly, James has once again been sidelined, this time struck down during a training session with a fresh injury that looks set to disrupt his current season.
The exact nature of James's injury remains unclear. When Chelsea announced his latest setback, they only confirmed it was a knee-related issue.
James has since undergone what the club described as "minor" knee surgery, marking the beginning of yet another rehabilitation journey for the right back.
