Supercomputer Reveals Shock Relegation Predictions as Tottenham and West Ham Survive Late-Game Chaos

Saturday's Premier League fixtures delivered thrilling drama at the foot of the table.

Tottenham Hotspur, who started the day in 18th place, saw both Dominic Solanke and Xavi Simons hobble off with injuries during a dull encounter against Wolverhampton Wanderers, while 17th-placed West Ham United had edged ahead at Everton by a single goal.

With just eight minutes remaining, the entire relegation picture was turned on its head.

João Palhinha bundled in a winner for Spurs, whose supporters were still celebrating when word of an Everton equalizer spread through the stands.

Spurs had pulled themselves out of the drop zone, leaving West Ham to take their place... for roughly five minutes, before Callum Wilson drove West Ham into a stoppage-time lead to claim a massive three points and dampen what had been Spurs' first victory of 2026.

With only four matches left in the fight for survival, the Opta supercomputer has forecast the outcome of an increasingly tense relegation battle, with multiple clubs desperate to avoid joining Wolves and Burnley in the Championship next season.

Unfortunately for the clubs scrapping for survival, none of them suffered a truly damaging result this weekend.

Leeds United's midweek draw with Bournemouth helped them reach the coveted 40-point threshold that typically signals safety. Daniel Farke's men are not entirely in the clear yet but can sense things moving in their favor — with just a 1.13% probability of going down.

Just below them, Nottingham Forest have been the standout side in this battle, hammering Sunderland 5–0 on Friday to close to within a single point of Leeds. The improvement in goal difference will feel almost equivalent to a bonus point at this stage of the campaign.

West Ham's victory keeps them three points behind Forest but, crucially, ensures Nuno Espírito Santo's side remain above the relegation places for another week. The supercomputer currently gives the Hammers a 37.35% chance of going down.

That spells trouble for Spurs, who remain two points short of safety despite a win that will feel hollow following West Ham's late leveler. Roberto De Zerbi's squad still face a 59.59% probability of relegation.

With both Solanke and Simons departing the pitch injured, Spurs head into their next fixture in worse shape than before and now brace themselves for a daunting visit to Aston Villa.

West Ham, meanwhile, face an equally challenging away trip to a Brentford side still very much in contention for a European spot.
