World Cup Ticket Prices Plummet for USMNT's Round of 16 Clash Even as Balogun's Red Card Gets Overturned

The U.S. men's national team faces the most significant match in a generation this Monday evening, squaring off against Belgium in the World Cup round of 16 at Lumen Field in Seattle. The knockout stage contest will be highlighted by star forward Folarin Balogun, who has been cleared to play following a widely-covered red card overturn that has since been linked to the White House.

Reaching the round of 16 is nothing new for the USMNT, yet the squad has only advanced beyond that stage on one occasion, making it to the quarterfinals at the 2002 World Cup held in Japan and South Korea.

Despite the USMNT dominating headlines across both sports and politics, ticket prices have dipped in the hours ahead of the match, declining across all categories on FIFA's official resale platform. The cheapest available ticket now sits at $1,943 for Category 1 and $1,322 for Category 2, both roughly $1,000 less than prices from last week, before the USMNT beat Bosnia and Herzegovina to clinch their spot. The lowest Category 3 price stands at $1,495, more than $500 below last week's figures.

The priciest tickets are listed at $11,500 for both Front Category 1 and Category 2, a significant drop from last week's top listing, which was a Category 3 seat priced at $57,500.

While prices for certain matches at the 2026 World Cup have climbed in the moments before kickoff as fans scramble to secure entry, many have actually decreased, particularly when resellers grow eager to offload tickets that were frequently purchased at much lower costs.

The buzz surrounding the USMNT and its potential deep run in the tournament—amplified by becoming the top story across the nation—has brought unprecedented attention to the squad. Remaining availability for Monday is extremely tight, with just 170 tickets still listed on StubHub.

Should the USMNT fall short, attending the team's next fixture would become considerably more budget-friendly, with that match not arriving until the October FIFA international window, during which the team is scheduled to play four games.

If the Stars and Stripes manage to push through to the World Cup semifinal, they will head to Dallas to take on either France or Morocco.
