Wrexham are hopeful that midfielder Ben Sheaf will be fit to return when they head to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship this weekend.
The 28-year-old is widely regarded as the club's most important midfielder, yet has managed only a single appearance this season due to a string of setbacks. Sheaf missed the entire preseason through injury before making his comeback with an impressive performance in the 2-1 home victory against Southampton last month.
Sheaf had been eager to hit the ground running following the recent international break, but a groin issue sustained in training forced him to sit out three additional games. The ex-Coventry City player participated in a full training session on Thursday and could be in contention for the Wrexham squad when they visit Ewood Park on Saturday.
Two More to Follow Sheaf Back From Injury

Wrexham may be able to call upon Sheaf against Blackburn, with defender Max Cleworth and utility midfielder George Thomason also featuring in the latest training session. It could be too early for that duo to feature this weekend, but both appear to be edging closer to a comeback.
Cleworth has been absent for five matches after sustaining a hamstring injury in the home draw with Burnley, while Thomason has sat out nine games since picking up a thigh problem in the final moments of Wrexham's draw with Watford in their second fixture of the campaign.
"Sheafo was back in full training today, Tommo and Max did part of the session, so a huge lift for everybody to see those boys out there," Parkinson told Sports Illustrated. "It really thickens up the numbers in the squad, and it's a good start getting those lads back on the training pitch."
Josh Windass picked up an ankle injury in the early stages of Wrexham's recent draw with Derby County and was seen in a protective boot following the weekend victory over Preston North End. He is expected to take the next step in his rehabilitation this weekend, while Nathan Broadhead, Liberato Cacace, and Seb Revan continue to be long-term absentees.
Parkinson added: "Josh has got a boot on to protect his ankle at the moment, but I think that comes off at the weekend and then Kevin [Mulholland] and his team can then really start assessing the ankle and look to progress Josh.
"Broady is out on the grass still doing his fitness work. The next stage for him is striking the ball because it was a thigh injury, but Libby is in the gym at the moment; that's more of a long-term injury."
