Wrexham's Action-Packed August: Every Fixture, Date, and Kickoff Time You Need to Know

Wrexham's Action-Packed August: Every Fixture, Date, and Kickoff Time You Need to Know

Wrexham are back in Championship action this month as they look to push further toward the top flight of English football.

The Red Dragons achieved the best league finish in the club's 162-year history last season, ending up seventh in the Championship and just missing out on a playoff spot. Wrexham fell only two points short of Hull City, who ultimately secured their place in the Premier League.

Phil Parkinson's squad head into the new season from a considerably stronger footing than twelve months ago, when 13 first-team players were brought in as part of a $45 million recruitment drive. With a solid base now established, Wrexham have shifted their focus to targeted additions this summer, completing just one transfer to date.

The club's main priority this term will be their Championship campaign rather than cup runs, with a top-flight promotion spot firmly in their sights. Parkinson has already indicated that Wrexham will approach their Carabao Cup first-round clash with Middlesbrough as an extended preseason fixture, using the game to boost fitness and sharpness before the league gets underway.

Here is a breakdown of Wrexham's August fixtures as the club looks to hit the ground running in their latest promotion push.

Wrexham August Schedule 2026–27

Wrexham will face four competitive fixtures in the opening month of the campaign, plus a behind-closed-doors friendly ahead of their Championship curtain-raiser.

The action kicks off on Aug. 7 with an away trip to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup first round. At the same stage last season, a late brace from Ollie Palmer was required to force Hull City into a penalty shootout, which Parkinson's men ultimately won.

A second away fixture, this time at Cardiff City, presents a tough opening to the Championship campaign. The two Welsh clubs are both eager to claim bragging rights as the nation's top side.

Wrexham's first home outing of the season arrives on Aug. 22 when Watford come to town. The Hornets finished 16th in the Championship last season but have been active in the transfer market, bringing in several players from Italian Serie A affiliate Udinese.

August wraps up with a home encounter against a Birmingham City side co-owned by NFL icon Tom Brady. A 2–0 loss at St Mary's back in April dealt a significant blow to Wrexham's promotion ambitions, and the Red Dragons will be eager to make amends on this occasion.
